BEWARE: Scam National Grants Conference is Coming to Town October 31, 2006

It has recently come to my attention that the National Grants group is coming back to Corpus Christi early November.  I’ll have you know that I went undercover last year to check this “free conference” out.  After sitting through 2 hours of hearing how others have successfully obtained government grants, the presenter informed us that their services are not free…they want attendees to pay $1000  for access to a book that has contact information for the “governmental grant agencies”.  They also ask that you pay additional $$ to attend the second session of the conference.   Read a related article from the Caller Times.

From the National Grants Conference Web site:
The United States has been providing self-help grant programs and low interest loans to its citizens since the days of Abraham Lincoln. The biggest obstacle is that so many of these government programs are simply very hard to find. There are over 1,400 Federal Funding Programs available today. NATIONAL GRANTS CONFERENCES TELLS YOU WHERE THE MONEY IS AND HOW TO GET IT.

Small business owners, there are no free government dollars available to help you start or grow your for-profit business.  Always contact the local Better Business Bureau before you dish out any money to get free government grants.

Find free access to legitimate federal government grant opportunities here.  Please notice that most (if not all) of these types of grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations.

To bad I hadn’t read this first. I went and what you say is true, I’ve sat at least 2 hurs a day just waiting to talk to someone and it has been a month and still I’am not any closer they just want more money. Sorry I’am broke now and still don’t have a home.
Thank
P.S I don’t suppose I’ll get my money back either

imjustnutz - June 23, 2009

It grieves me tremedously to think that there are scammers allowed to continue bilking struggling citizens out of their money. I am struggling to get my business off the ground and have invested over $10,000 to set the business up. I saw a commercial for NGC and wanted to research them before I invested any of my time (my gut told me that NOTHING is free and I keep reading that there are NO GRANTS FOR STARTING UP A BUSINESS). I was tempted but now I’m inclined to go to the seminar to educate those who are vulnerable and would be tempted to get sucked in to their scam.

Daniel - October 3, 2009

I am interested to see what information that they provided for the money compared to what is available for free. The Grants.gov provides contact information for local government offices that can provide more information. But that site is not for small business owners. Small business owners can go to their local Small Business Association for help. Most grants for businesses are for women/minority owned businesses. Please someone that has purchased this contact me. norstrand99@gmail.com

Beware is right! Don’t get taken.
unfortunately my friend paid the $1,000, i went with to the THREE day seminar just to see for myself what he’d paid for. Lot’s of useless information. Basically a long three days of this crafty guy selling you to join his HIGHER level, the next thousands he’s talking you out of, those people then become his “students” to get his more detailed/ better info. Unbelieveable! I have been in the Real Este profession for more than 20 years. This guy is nothing more than a well dressed two bit shiester!

Barbara Gonzalez - January 6, 2010

We have attended the same seminar. Are you in Miami????. I have contacted an attorney to start a Class Action Law suit. Do you think your friend will be interested in participating???

Please call me 305-476-9000 or email me @ alechb1981@aol.com

Is his name Trent Ellington?

2. Chris - November 6, 2007

I attended a National Grants Conference where the speaker offended quite a few and angered even more by saying things like “The rich stay rich and the poor stay angry!” I can’t imagine why???? Any way, always remember, especially working class people who hate their jobs that pay virtually nothing, these people know you’re desperate to get out of it, and there are ways, but I don’t think National Grants is one. When it comes to govt. grants, most people will probably never get them. The government is only there when it’s time to take your taxes, they’re never there when you need help. Always remember that.

3. Billy McVey - January 3, 2008

I went to one of those conference in New York City a few months ago,
They have a planned dialouge , the speaker sounded like a fervant preacher and never let a word in edge wise. It was almost religious in tone, he did not answer questions ,he only gave out smart quips to as answers. He used the name of God like it was church. Henever stopped talking .

peter heidt - May 10, 2009

hi my name is peter i went to the conference i gave the 1000 to the its been 1 year they still have not help me at all i wish i can talk you please call me at 1505 577 3270

Hi Peter my name is Mary Matera,Augest 2007 I went to National Grants Conference here in Phoenix. I paid $1002.39 the following weekend went to the work shop on real estate what a joke sound so easy. A women I met her name was Kathy real estate broker we team up to learn about low income trying to purchase homes, what a joke had people calling me about Donald Trump how to get started. It went on trying every which way I gave up in order to stay with the program every year was $24.95 to be activated bunch of lies did not get help but the run around.

4. kathy - April 7, 2008

we just got out of the conference. i could smel salesman before we got through the door. i kept thinking, this is going to cost hundreds. when i found out it was a thousand i almost fell off my chair. the guy was nothing but an actor. they even marketed the product so that the person in the family who wants to spend spend spend and lives on dreams gets totally angry with the saver in the family. you could tell the speaker even has told the same jokes over and over and over. what a scam. i felt like yelling at the people who jumped up to get in line to pay.

6. Gia - April 28, 2008

I attended the NGC preliminary meeting in 11/2007. Thought it was good, had no money, so I set it aside. They said $1000 lifetime membership, and if you haven’t used it for a while, just pay $29.95 to reactive it. They said they had a team of grant writers, researchers, CPA’s and Attys. Just call telll them what kind project interest your working on and they will research the grant, send the grant proposal for you to fill in the blanks and send it back for their review, then they mail it in.

Well, I attened again April 2008(Sat)–paid $1000-had three days to cancel Though the training started in 7 days. First day of training–suddenly the $1000 was good for only 6mos-then will be automatically billed $29.95 per month to continue. Receipt signed says no CPAs, or attorneys on team. Also I would be writing my own proposal and reviewing it over the phone with them. Also Meeting the bankers and negociating funds. Before lunch-A Bonus was presented….ALL the software required to WRITE, Business plans,n proposals, etc to submit to banks for Business or Real Estate endeavors. The fee was $2000 for one and $2995 for the other. These softwares had formats for business plans, financial statements, proposals, 1003′s, etc. I bought a book of printed grants lists, etc for $1000–told us not to bring the books the next day, everything would be reviewed on this overhead and using the fabulous $ 6000 software. I asked for my money back–they took the books, and said to leave and call the 888 number on Monday. I hope I won’t have to fight about a penalty, which was not mentioned–when I asked Michelle, she said no penalty, she didn’t even take my name.I will write the State Attorney, FTC and BBB if there is a problem.

7. Gia - April 28, 2008

Also, most of the audience who paid the $1000 was over 60 yrs old. I commend them for continuing to be enthusiastic–I talked to a few, which had sub-primed loans-were in trouble like most of America now due to the Bushes’ new world order. The majority didn’t know how to use a computer, didn’t have a computer and probably counldn’t navigate the writing requirements.

8. libby - May 13, 2008

Hi
I stumble upon this site by typing in NCGCenter, I was looking to attend a workshop in Atlanta, Ga this weekend. Well after hereing about all the sad stories of disappointment I suppose your comment section save me some out of pocket money which I don’t have right now. I only need the work shop I paid 1000 about 3 years ago the statue of limitation probably ran out on the money back policy. Well I’m struck with information that I have to stumble through. I’ll have to take each page at a time and research the numbers. How can the Government allow this kind of Fleecing America in their name USA.

9. Paulo - May 22, 2008

Thank you SBDC for this site. It just saved me time I was going to spend at the NGC meeting next week at the Marriot hotel here in Riverside California. Thanks again and God bless you all.

10. Cody - May 26, 2008

I visited several sites that all claimed access to information on applying for government non-repayable grants here in Canada. They wanted $600 for a book with the info. I used to sell vacuums so I can smell a sales pitch mile away. I called Service Canada (I usually hate these guys) and was surprised they were familiar with the company who ‘supplies’ this grant info package. They told me these sales people tell customers these names of companies who ‘recieve grants’ but it is a sales tactic with no substance just to make the sale. Service Canada also told me all that grant and loan information is free and no one selling that information is affiliated with the government. There is only one grant here in NB and it is an income suppliment of $250 weekly for a total of $11,000, meaning we need to get a business loan.

11. tc - May 31, 2008

ngcc National grants conference buyer beware thes guys suck!!!!

These guys are a bunch of leech sucking vampires, looking for the weak to prey on.I smelled them and their salespitch immediately the environment was dark and so was the speakers insipid jokes.Remember if its too good to be true it usually is.I left there feeling sorry for the people that paid and fell in to their web of lies. Please use your intuition, if you decide to attend one of these low budget waste of time nightmares,if you guy bring ,a wooden stake so you can slay the vampire, one clue you can smell them coming.

12. Sarah - June 16, 2008

I went to the seminar today (the $1000 part) and it is a complete waste of time and a con. Most of the time that was supposed to be spent explaining how to get grant and write proposals, which was not actually done in a manner that people can apply the information to the lives/situation, anyway most of that time was spent telling his life story, showing pictures of people he has met, things that he has done, dirty jokes, and more than anything selling another product. He actually insulted audience members who corrected him on things or posed difficult questions so that they would lose credibility in front of everyone else. It was a complete mind game and a scam. Many people there spoke of their disappointment and how foolish they felt for having been scammed. As I said to a lady as we left the conference “no vale la pena” (this is not worth the pain [of the cost or the time]). All information that was given you can find online.

13. MS.B - July 14, 2008

THEY’RE BAAAACK!
WHAT A SCAM, HOW DOES THE GOVT ALLOW THEM TO OPERATE UNDER THEIR ENTITY; WHATS THEIR KICKBACK? A GRAND LATER NOT AN OUNCE OF HELP. ONLY MORE LIES FOR ADDITIONAL FEES. WOULDA BEEN BETTER THROWIN THE $OUT A WINDOW MAYBE I’DVE HELPED SOMEONE PUT FOOD ON A TABLE OR GAS TO GET TO WORK. RUN AWAY FAST!!!!

14. Brent - July 31, 2008

I went to a seminar last night. I walked out of there upset that I didn’t have the money to buy it at the time. I even called my mother to see it she would be interested in going in on it with me. so to day I did a search for there website and thank God I found this site first. I feel sorry for the 20+great people of Chico Ca that shelled out the 1000 bucks for this scam.

15. May Kollaja - August 1, 2008

I am a SCORE counselor who out of curiosity attended a NGC seminar in 2006, heard all the hype and saw people pay $1,000 for a dream and subsequently counseled with a church representative who had fallen for their hypewere given a runaround by staff and were recommended to contact SCORE for help in writing their business plan. This was entirely irrelevant for what they had hoped to accomplish. These people don’t say anything about your cancellation rights at the time of the sale. If enough people complain to Greg Abbott, Attorney General of Texas, (www.oag.state.tx.us) he could file a Consumer Fraud Lawsuit against these people for failure to provide adequate notice of consumers’ right to cancel their purchase of the materials costing $999.00 This was done in January 2006 by the Vermont Attorney General’s Office. This should also be reported to the BBB and lastly, if you just get taken in, put it on a credit card and you could refuse payment when you have cooled off and realized what you have done.
At http://www.ripoffreport.com you can get further education.

19. Jusjudy - August 11, 2008

The internet is a wonderful thing. I’m so happy I checked here before registering for the National Grant Conference. When you hear the word “free” in an infomercial, apparently you have to know you’ll be taken to the cleaners at some point. Thanks to all the people who have registered their experiences and complains here.

20. Dixie - August 18, 2008

I attended a National Grants “free ” conference ,where they said if both myself & my significant other joined ,they would “split ” the membership fee .My significant other was undecided but I had my credit card in my hand and it was snatched from my hand and charged for $500.97! The asscoiate with National Grants Conferneces was hadning it back to me with a charge slip to sign and I told him I did NOT approve the credit card being charged and told him to refund it immediately. He said he did but I later got a statement from my credit card issuuing bank whowing the charge but no refund! I called National Grants -SPENDING 3 OF MY one HOUR LUNCH BREAKS WAIITNG FOR “CUSTOMER SREVICE ” ,only to have ther “customer sevice asscotiates ” admit to me that their company DOES NOT have me listed as a “Member” -and I told them thisi s correct since I NEVER SIGNED ANY CREDIT CARD SLIP nor DID i SIGN THEIR CONTRACT -NOR DID I RECIEVE ANY OF THEIR “MEMBER SHIP MATERIALS “!I was referred to leave a voice message and fax a dispute and request to refund my card to a “MRS ROYAL” AT EXT #140.I faxed the letter requestinga refund ,explaing I never gave permission for National Grants Conferences to charge my card and NOTHING WAS DONE-NOT EVEN A CALL TO ME FROM MRS ROYAL AS I HAD REQUESTED !( SORRY bout CAP LOCKS ! Now I am disputing the credit card charge with my issuing bank -this has been taking over a MONTHH NOW-& STILL NOT RESOLVED,I just left another voice message (with my phone # for a call back I KNOW IM NOT GETTING) I advised I will take them to COURT if the $500.97 is not refunded! WATCH OUT FOLKS-THIS COMPANY IS REAL SCUM!!!!

charles ferreira - August 22, 2009

hello same thing happened to me with another company, after struggling with them i contacted my bank demanding that they reverse the charge(i said i will not get off until they, explaining to them that they are my bank and it is their job to stop the theft.)They reversed it imediately and sent me a form to fill wich i had to return. i reccomend open a case with the bank, they will instruct you to follow certain steps, oblige. Phone them back and say the thieves are not responding and ask the bank to do a follow up, give them the number. Phone back next day, bank will admit that they are also not getting through, then the demanding starts. Good luck it worked great for me in the end

21. Dixie - August 18, 2008

Does anyone know if I can join a class action law suit against National Grants Conferences? I have a real legitimate case!!

22. Rosi - August 31, 2008

It’s heartbreaking to hear all these stories. Snake oil has always been a hot selling commodity and good snake oil sales people seem so magical at the time. But we’re talking about a significant amount of money – especially considering the target market. NGC’s message is not wrong. Their sales practices are. It’s possible for individuals to write a business plan or apply for a grant and some may occasionally be successful. In my opinion, these “winners” are well educated, have extensive resources and are highly motivated. Unfortunately, they are a very small percentage of those attending these workshops. In fact, most people succeeding at this game do not need to attend any workshops or pay any fees. All the information is in the public domain. If you can’t find it or don’t know how, you should consider other ways of making your fortune. I speak from experience. I was a counselor at NGC and tried very hard to help clients achieve their dreams. It was very frustrating for me because I’m not sure a single one of my clients was able to do what was promised at the workshops. If you only knew the ratio of clients to counselors, you’d probably stay away from the program. And if you had any idea about the salaries of the management team, it would make you sick.

23. Joe Brown - September 15, 2008

Does any one know how we can get our money back or join a class action law suit against these people? We were led on led to believe they were there to help us and put up thousands of dollars. Now today we are still paying back this debt on a credit card plus interest and never got any where with NGC. I am now having medical problems and am not able to work, but I still have to pay this debt that did not help me to achieve any thing. Please help if you have any information. Thank You!

24. May Kollaja - September 15, 2008

In response to Dixie, you have been scammed and you do have avenues you can take. The first thing you should do is write your credit card company a letter of complaint with details and that you are disputing this charge. They should be able to take this off your card. Then, Please back up and read my blog of August 1. You will read there about all the steps you can take to get relief on your loss.I have listed the websites of the Office of the State Attorney General where you can get instructions on filing a complaint with his office. In Florida where these people operated under the name of Proven Methods Seminars the Better Business Bureau was able to publicize their methods and do damage control. The number for the local Better Business Bureau is 852-4949. They are located at 101 N. Shoreline and can help you file a complaint. If you have any success at all, please so add it to this list of blogs. I am located in Corpus Christi, Texas and assume you are in Texas also. My recommendations would apply to any state.

25. HENRY - September 20, 2008

THESE GUYS ARE A POMPUS ASSES!!!!!!!! THEY CLAIM IN THE START OF THE CONFERENCE THAT THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO SELL YOU ANYTHING! THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT GIVING GRANT MONEY FOR BUSINESSES AT THE MOMENT, ONLY FOR MEDIAL AND EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH. CALL YOUR LOCAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR FUNDING INFO.

26. Greg Hamilton - September 22, 2008

They came to Honolulu and yes, I was hooked by the prospect. When I got there, the sales pitch insulted my intelligence. Over and over again, examples of success with ZERO information to back it up. Honestly, they probably made the whole thing up. They reminded us of car salesmen, all show and no go. All kinds of promises but the ultimate question was never brought up or answered which I thought was suspect. “Say out of 10 requests for grants, what is the normal return?” I asked the speaker during the break and he stated 30%. My intuition told me he was full of it
DO NOT FALL FOR IT!

27. Rupaul - October 4, 2008

well I agree and disagree, YES there are grant programs for fixing your home, YES, there are grant programs FOR profit businesses, they do offer a service, but it’s not nearly worth the price you have to pay, and pay, and keep paying for it! Little known fact, they teamed with Donald Trump and formed Trump Institute to sell the same information under Trumps name and almost went bankrupt, the problem being is they can NOT deliver on what they are selling… The management there is unreliable, and extremely self centered on making sure THEY keep their jobs, they could careless if you cancel and they could careless if you get a grant. They just want your money, if you give it, shame on you. ALL of the information they sell is FREE to find by doing google searches, if your looking for business loans, grants, and subsidies you need to look at your local government first, they either have funding OR can request funding from higher government offices (state level) on your behalf, THEN you can actually go up to a federal level which can NOT be requested by an individual, it has to be requested by a lower government office (the state) and so forth, the people claiming there is no free grant money to be handed over to for profits businesses is only saying that because they have no idea of how to get it! Same with home repairs, down payment assistance, creative financing, employee subsidies, the list goes on and on, its out there, i know… I’ve done it. It takes a ton of effort, a ton of networking, and the ability to get past someone telling you NO. you can call your local economic development office and say “can i get a grant to open my own butt cream store” and 100% of the time they will say “no, there is no free grant money for that” NOW if you called that same woman and asked for different government programs to assist you in opening your own butt cream store such as the community development block grant program which is currently running its funding cycle until the end of december, THEN they will help you. As far as needing a professional business plan, ya you do… don’t hand write one, don’t have NGC write one for you and pay $5000.00 bucks for it, go to online sample download places like http://www.bplansnow.com and buy a copy of an industry specific plan for $20 bucks and change your that info to your info and BAM, your done with the business plan process which you CAN submit to NGC if your a member and they WILL research the government loans, grants, and subsidies YOUR business can apply for. So is it completely bad? NO, but….it sure as hell isn’t worth the money they sell it for and there counselors are EXTREMELY undereducated and reading you a script from a book, if client ask this question, click here and read response A….. kind od a joke and its only getting worse……. Just my two cents.

28. Kim Hoard - October 7, 2008

what can we do to get our money back because this is the second time I have been scammed. (not by the same company of course). Do we have any recourse?

29. Big Hoss - October 9, 2008

This bunch of low-life, bottom-feeding scamsters is coming to the Huntsville and Madison, Alabama area during the week of October 13, 2008. Their very misleading and deceitful TV infomercial has been playing on local cable and satellite and will probably draw in a crowd of naive and gullible folks and relieve them of big chunks of their cash. I plan to notify the office of the Attorney General of Alabama about the imminent arrival of these vile scum and encourage that office to investigate them. The AG is big on consumer protection. I hope his office is able to interdict these lowlifes or at least provide them a warning that they are under scrutiny. There is as especially hot sector of hell awaiting con men like these!

30. josh - October 13, 2008

I just went to one of these conferences and yes it is a scamm. Is there money out there to help small business, yes. But do the research go to your local SBA, SCORE, and goverment a officals or banks and they can point you in the right direction with creditable
people

31. Michelle - October 21, 2008

These people are very expensive before they are a scam…they don’t tell you the whole truth. Now they do charge 5000. to write a grant proposal that’s not guarnteed. I did call a few numbers listed in the book in D.C, but the recording clearly stated that they do no offer any loans for the whatever type of loan I was calling for. So…you might want to try to buy the books off ebay or someone that feels like they were scammed. They are good books, if you have the cash to spend to get the free money; which I don’t even know if it works. Does anyone know, if they know someone who it has worked for?

32. Bert B. - October 28, 2008

My mother & I bought the program in 2001 while I was in college. During the second seminar the speaker spoke about a company just starting up that sold items other companies overstocked. That company’s name is OVERSTOCK.COM. If we had bought into the company at the time it was offered our profits would be outrageous. NGC provides informational resources to you with one promise: “without ACTION you will be guaranteed one thing . . . nothing.” I will continue to use NGC for a resource for information. What others do (or don’t do) with the same opportunities is not my fault. Thank you.

33. Dennis McIntyre - November 10, 2008

I just attended a seminar in Chattanooga Tenn. I am septic by nature but my scam alarm went off about ten minutes into the presentation. I have been the victim of these types of get something for nothing before so I just sat and politely listened, the repeated use of the phrase “get rid of the fear” was the thing that sold me on the truth that they just thought of me as a goat to be milked. The fellow doing all the talking was a very accomplished snake oil salesman, and I have to respect his audacity, but not much else. I felt so sorry for all those folks, some seniors, and mostly low income, who gave money they couldn’t afford to someone who didn’t need it. If he thinks he is the “philanthropist” he claimed to be, then I feel sorry for him, the problem is he probably sleeps just fine at night knowing how he takes advantage of the neediest of us. Buyer be ware.

34. terry - November 11, 2008

Thank You somuch for all of this information here. My mom wants me to take her to one of these conferences tomorrow in South Florida. I will make sure not to waste our time by going and hearing these scam artists.

35. Joseph - November 13, 2008

WOW, I was on the phone trying to start my payment arrangement with NGC and got a busy signal before I Googled them and came across this site. I invested in 2004 but had no money and they sent me the books anyway ( by accident of course). Anyway, I thought this was credable and just went to another confrence a few months ago where i paid $100 towards this offer. I am a former salesman and am a collection agent, so I use the string along tactic on events like this I think may be shady. I felt like it must be legitimate and decided I was going to start this and get my business a grant. I’ve read all of the posts and out of 34 posts – only 1 person felt they could use NGC- including 2 people that used to work there and a professional who worked for SCORE that agree this is a scam.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SAVING ME STUDENT LOAN MONEY I COULDNT AFFORD TO WAIST!!!!
I’ll just do the research myself!!!!

36. Donna Hoehl - November 13, 2008

I went to the conference at a request from someone else via a newspaper article. We gave them $500 and were to give another $499. The only time we were contacted was to make further payment arrangements. We were told all type of hype stories about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but, in reality it’s all about the money. So, tomorrow, we’re going to the bank to dispute the charges and get our $500 back, If I can do this myself for $20 it’s alot better than $999 and if I have to do it myself anyway, I’d rather keep the $979 in my own pocket.

37. Louis - November 16, 2008

Thank You!! Thank You everyone for this site!! I just attended the NGC conference. I received a mailing where I was suppose to get $199 off the price. After the conference, I asked about the $199 discount I received in the mail from them – I can’t use it. Luckily, I had my checkbook and my credit card in the car, or else I would have been doped into signing up with them for empty promises. THANKS again everyone for saving me $999 that I don’t have to waste.

38. Terry Johnson - November 23, 2008

Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, just restored my faith in the internet as a source of creditable information. There here now in the Virgin Islands and if I hadn’t come across this web site I would have ended up going to their seminar and lord knows. Again thanks.

39. John - November 29, 2008

I am so glad I did not attend the NGC conference there was in the STX and STT US Virgin Islands. I had to work those days are would have ended up going to their seminar. Thanks for the information..

40. Jim "Shadow" Booth - December 1, 2008

Been thinking about all the things said about NGC too date. I have to agree that part of the program is quite costly.. but what is this stuff I am hearing about $5000.oo?!! My understanding from the program staff, is that you pay $1500.oo, and the first grant you write is for it all back. Then you write a grant that gets you the money owed to you by the government each year, that you can’t hear about because the US Government does not have the funds to advertise this information?
So tell me, are they lying? If so, then they are purposely misleading the public over national communications which is guided and controlled for the public safety by our government. The National Grants Conference staff should all be locked up in a Federal Inst. for TREASON against the USA and it’s citizen’s. I work with family’s who are low income, and one of our hopes is to establish a now homeless invironment all over the world, let alone the US. This was going to be the basis of getting alot of us started in small businesses, which is what can fix our enconomy. We have all been working toward this goal for several years, almost there.. Imagine how disappointed and upset these 240 individuals will be to find out that these staff members have misrepresented themselves.. lol,, not funny is it.

I want to apply for grants on my own without using another agency like the NGC. Where should I look?

43. Terry - December 8, 2008

Thankyou for this info, i was going to the conference on dec.14 in portland,or not any more. how can these people live with what they are doing to us. they need to be put away.

44. Ray - December 11, 2008

If it wasn’t for my good friend Jeff I would be taking these a-holes out like a light. He said lets check it out before we jump in with both feet. I’m a middle class guy here and I think some of the people that were here in Scottsdale must have been from South Phoenix if you get my drift. Reminded me of the people I saw when I had to collect unemployment back in the 70′s. I really feel sorry for them. The speaker was a cool x-car salesman. With people like this around nobody gets what they think their going to get except another debt to pay off.

45. Jane - December 14, 2008

They filed for BANKRUPTCY on December 3. BANKRUPT! That about says it all.

46. Deborah - January 1, 2009

My boyfriend and I went to the NGC conference in Spokane, Washington in September, 2006. Like the majority of people who have posted on this site we were bilked out of almost $3000. It is humiliating to have to admit that we were taken…. but I also would like to know if there is any way to get our money back at this late date. I went online to check them out with the BBB, when they were going to be back in Spokane September, 2008. What I found was that the company has a rating of “F” with the BBB. I have thought about contacting the Attorney General’s office in Washington State but did not know if it would do any good. Would anyone here on this list know if there has been a lawsuit filed against them? I would be most appreciative if someone would let me know how to proceed two years later!!

47. Reggie - January 4, 2009

There must have been a miscommunication from the seminars all went to and the TRUTH about NGC and ability to provide services to help who need money. Yes, there is an initial investment to make to start the proposal process but the grant received is completely true. I paid $1000, started the proposal and received a call the next day verifying my address informing me the amount I would receive and when to arrive. This conference totally worked for me, I am sorry so many had a bad experience!

Cecil Sourie - July 27, 2009

What kind of grant did you apply for?

48. Dave - January 29, 2009

Thanks for the site. Its sad to know that there are scammers like NGC , foul and rancid out there just taking people. They need Jesus. I hope they find Him. I got a letter today with two tickets to there stank conference, with no return address of course.

49. Cliff - February 1, 2009

Wow, my wife and I went to a conference today and was turned off by the lack of consistency in the NGC Rep. presentation. The Rep. never got to the beef, he lead you to believe he was going to show you where and how to get grant money in the beginning but continued to stall and talk about how successful he is and then he would hold two brown books in the air along with the red and green books and then started talking about the $1000 membership cost. The Rep then asked who was ready to get free grant money and told them to hurry up and get the membership form because he had a few left and first come, first serve. My wife and saw really desparate people breaking their necks to give these people their credit cards without asking the Rep any questions he said he’d promised to do at the end of his presentation. The information the Rep shared about grants were facts, however his initial statements were never delivered which drew red and purple flags and that’s what prompted me to research NGC which eventually lead me here. Thank GOD.

50. Malaika - February 2, 2009

I attended the conference yesterday at the Marriott in Greenbelt Maryland, I find it to be increadlbly disturbing that NGC are allowed to pray on vunarulable people like this. The speaker went on babiling about how you can get “free money
From the government”. He kept people on the edge of their seats waiting to hear detailed information on how to get a grant, he never got to it but instead rambled on and showed pictures of different people who found success with using their service. What I found most disturbing, was how some people were quick to jump up and pay $999 without first seeing anything in writing. He was disinterested an answering any questions unless it was pertaining to paying the $999 membership fee. Luckily I stumbled across this site and I am very thankful that I did, too bad that everyone who attends the NGC can’t be forewarned about this scam.
There is nothing more valuable and convincing of a product or service then “word of mouth” testimonials and experiences. Thank you everyone for valuable input and concerns, you just saved another person from being scammed.

51. Kent - February 3, 2009

The NGC scammers were in Washington, DC yesterday, and are in Alexandria today. Unfortunately, everything you read here is true. You have just three days to cancel your order.

52. T - February 5, 2009

I say all of us hardworking people get together and get our money back. This is America and American’s sue. Let me know what you think people and lets do what they say GO BACK TO THE WELL!

53. JDavies - February 6, 2009

I attended the conference last early last year, 2008, and joined. I found that they promised a lot and were not able to supply. When I called to get direction on which grant would work for my situation, they sent me to a web site. I mentioned some of the services that were explained to me at the conference, but the person at National Grants said, “we don’t do that”. As I read the requirements for the grant that they told me to check out, I found that I didn’t qualify. I looked at several other grants that were suggested by them as well and found the same situation. I don’t qualify. And most of the population doesn’t. They make a lot of promises, but cannot follow through. I also joined the Auction Teachers(they were also at this conference) (yes, I really fell for it all), they also made a lot of promises. They say they would create my website, pretty much do all the work and submit my web page to the search engines. I really worked at this one. There was a small fee of $400 to get started, and the impression they gave was that they would do all they said for that amount. But it turned out that is not what the truth was. Instead you got some software and the instructions to using the software, the instructions aren’t even close to complete. Then a sales person (outside sales company) called and explained that there is an additional fee to get all the services that they spoke of. I really wanted to do this and so I bit. $14,000. After a year of working with them, I have found that they are not professional. They are a small company trying to act as a large company. I had to do most of the work. The graphics that they provided were low end. The “Mentor” that is supplied doesn’t even know HTML or Java. They told me to go out on the web and get some ideas of how I would like the site to look and navigate. When I came back with the ideas, they couldn’t make the site navigate the way I wanted. You see, that would take Java and Flash, and they don’t know how to do that, and it doesn’t work with their software. When they did submit my site to the search engines, it only shows up on a lot of the small engines out there. But guess what, it doesn’t show up on some of the biggest, like Google. I have gotten a lot of instruction on how to sell on eBay, but I could have used the tutorials on ebay to learn the same thing. I was told I would be able to use other programs so that I would know what to sell. They of course cost more money. I am not spending any more. For the amount of money I dished out, I could have paid a local programmer and they would have done all the work for a whole lot less. And yes, it would have shown up on Google. This has been one of the most expensive lessons I have had.
I hope no one else has to go through this.

tr - May 21, 2009

you are talking about the 4 hour seminar and the 3 click software? What else do they want money for? that seminar didn’t help you at all?

54. Sara - February 8, 2009

I fell for this scam over six years ago so can you imagine how much money they have collected over the years with minimal results? My fee was $1200. I believe it is too late for me to sue, but those who are recent members – go for it.

WoW! I’m so glad I came here first otherwise I would have been a victim like so many others I’ve read about. 2:00 in the morning I’m watching television and their 30 minute show comes on. I really think this was an answer to my prayer that I could get a grant to start my own business. I knew it sounded too good to be true. A piece of the American pie! More like a piece of my bank account. I know there are loans out there for people who want to start a small business, but it’s heart-breaking to think that people are being scammed in times like these. Thanks to those of you who shared your experience with these people. God bless you!

56. Bob McDonald - February 16, 2009

NGC gave me all the help i needed and more. I recieved downpayment assistance, and help with my closing cost. Most important they taught me how to make smart purchase. They help me avoid subprime loans. I have since started a business and they help me get matching funds for equipment.

Bob

57. Chris - February 19, 2009

I am sorry to hear all the bad experiences people have had.
I have been an NGC member since 2001. They have helped me get money for business start up, as well as business growth. I have also received money for rental properties. My experience has been a great one, and life changing. I wish everyone the best in their pursuit of financial freedom.

Chris

58. Shocked but I shouldn't be - February 21, 2009

Freaking Idiots! And I mean the NGC too. Lets have a small amount of common sense and reason folks. It’s truly sad that these jerks are taking advantage of people left and right and praying upon peoples fears. At the same time, what part of paying someone $1000 so that I can get access to FREE gov’t material sounds like a good idea? This highlights so many things wrong with our country. The All Mighty Dollar. People preying on the weak, old, and stupid. And Stupid.

This is why natural laws like the strong survive are good things. We need to cull stupid people. Like wildebeests. That would be fun to watch.

59. Andy - March 3, 2009

I’m so happy I found this site. I received a “ticket” in the mail with no return address (post marked Los Angeles) with a “waived” fee of $149.00 to attend this conference in Milwaukee this Saturday (March 2nd, 2009). The way it was packaged was very strange-no return address, an admission ticket, a $500 merchandise voucher, what appeared to be a handwritten post-it note made out to me personally from someone called “J” (this was found to be printed upon closer inspection of the font, lettering, and ink) and lastly a “newspaper clipping” about how great the nat’l grant conferences are. The whole thing appeared to be marketed like some economic guardian angel is watching over you. I found the whole thing to be very suspicious…yet also very intriguing. I was planning on going on the assumption that I would leave as soon as prices were mentioned, but now I don’t even have to bother wasting my time. Maybe I’ll still attend, but just to throw eggs and tomatos… Thanks everyone.

60. Scott - March 3, 2009

I went with a business partner to the 3-day in Minneapolis this past weekend. To date, we have done nothing, but we are inspired. The sad truth is that most people attending these seminars will not do anything with the information provided, because, darn it, it actualy takes some effort. I know, because I’ve gone to others, paid big bucks, got lazy, didn’t follow through, and made nothing. I’m just sick and tired of where I am right now and have pledged to myself to change. There is no free lunch. Most of the people posting above me are acting like victims, and will more than likely remain as such for the rest of their lives. If you do nothing different, nothing will change for you. We were quite surprised that the 3-day, which was supposed to be about grants, was mostly about real estate investment. For us, maybe a good thing, as we are on the fringe of that business, learned a lot of things, and intend to WORK HARD with the information provided, and improve our financial situations. Stop being such whiners, get off your butt, and change your life. They gave you some tools. You have to choose to use them, not all, but a few, and build something for yourself. Best of luck to all of you. We’ll report back in a few months and let you know if we became successful…or scammed. My bet is successful, because I WANT IT.

sandy - June 24, 2009

Good luck for you, if you are familiar with the real estate business, it is very hard to get offers through right now, there are foreclosures but not at a discount price as they tell you, you need 20% down or more, that is the real truth, you won’t be able to buy not even one property and a lot less 1o as they claim in a year, trust me, I am in the real estate business.

61. Glenn Contrarian - March 13, 2009

My wife and I took the full program in early ’08 and forked over about 5K for it…and even though we haven’t used the mentoring and the grants processing, we were able to use what we learned at the conference to get into a house worth 625K where we now take care of our medically-fragile foster children and where we’ll soon be opening our adult family home. Best of all, what we’re doing is largely recession proof…and we have NGC to thank for it!

Often it’s not how much you pay for the tools, but how well you put them to use.

62. Carl - March 17, 2009

Anyone who uses a credit card can have the Secret Service investigate a fraudulant charge, or refusal to refund your money within a certain time period (10 days?). When the Secret Service calls, action gets taken. Anytime I have had a credit card problem, I have called them and it was immediately refunded, because I canceelled within the authorized time period.

63. Pamela Renee Silver - March 17, 2009

Carl -March 17 2009, thank you for your info about the Secret service I just gave these scam artist my debit card yesterday 3/16/09. I tried to call the number for them that showed up on my caller Id to no avail. I sent e-mails after calling my bank an getting instruction from them on what NGC needed to do to get my money back into my account. this less than 24hrs of my tragic mistake of joining. Thanks to you I will file my complaint with The Secret Service first thing in the morning 3/17/09. Thank you again Carl.

64. Carl - March 17, 2009

No problem, Pam. Just hope you acted in time, which it sounds like you did. Please let us know how it turns out, so we can help others avoid getting ripped off. Wishing you well. Wise and Blessed Be. Harm None and Do As Thee Will.

65. Christella Reyna - March 21, 2009

Wow.
My husband and I recently attended on of these seminars. We were not expecting to pay a membership fee. We thought that we would sit through a lecture then pay for a few books or software.
Afterwards, we thought about paying for a membership, but I thought: “Maybe I should check online to see if there are any disclaimers out there or people who have been scammed by this company.”
I’m so glad that I checked.
Thank you to all who have posted their encounters with NGC. Even though you may not get your money back, you are saving countless others from being taken in by these 21st century snake oil salesmen.
I wish you all the best in your endeavors to collect what NGC has taken from you!

66. Kelly - March 24, 2009

Good information, I just attended the seminar this evening. Sounds like something I wanted to get into wanting to open/invest in an assisted living facility in a rural area. But after reading all of the above posts at two in the morning. I am glad I waited to research before I gave $999.00. I understand the concept of having to spend money to make money, but let’s be real, you have to put in work. And it seems that our local agencies can help with information on how to get resources to make your dreams happen. What I did not like is how the speaker put emphasis on investment realty. And the speaker never gave the risks involved or how many times one would have to apply for a particular grant. The other interesting point is if NGC is having seminars across the country and only so much government funds available for businesses who’ll be left out of the equation? Once again thank you for all of your replies.

67. Joann - March 30, 2009

I went to the free seminar in Honolulu tonight. I thought the information was great, I’ve learned allot weather I choose to do it or not, I still came out from it a better educated person. Just like anything else, it takes commitment and persistence, it won’t happen over night. I didn’t think it was a SCAM because I took what I wanted and I left behind what I didn’t. Due to finances, I didn’t join, but with the information, I will keep searching the net and hopefully when they come back, I will have the funds to do it!

68. carl - March 31, 2009

my father-in-law and myself attended the ngc conference in Las Vegas,NV on march 28th,2009, we sat through approximately 1 hour
before we got up and left. it’s true this is a 100% scam. this company is
not affiliated with the us government, and they are using the government’s name to lure you in. this so called instructors for the session, Steve wollaston and mitch johnson are nothing more then well
paid salesman for national grants conference. BE AWARE THESE PEOPLE ARE ONLY AFTER YOUR MONEY AND NOTHING ELSE DO OT GIVE IT TO THEM. !! THIS COMPANY IS BEING INVESTIGATED BY THE US GOVERNMENT FOR THIS SCAM.

69. I'm Laughing - April 2, 2009

You are ALL idiots if you signed up for NGC. They filed for Bankruptcy in December of 2008.

70. Joann - April 2, 2009

Thank you so much. If you really cared about the people who got taken advantaged of because they just want to make a difference in their life, you wouldn’t be calling them IDIOTS AND LAUGHING AT THEM…GOOD JOB, SHAME ON YOU!

71. monique - April 2, 2009

Its really sad that ngc is still rippin people off i paid the $1000 almost 7 yrs ago and didnt get any real help yet just a bunch of materials that are already free if you just do your research. But im all for the government stepping in to investigate and give us our money back……………….yeah right!

72. Dewana Brown - April 6, 2009

hello my mother and I just came from the conference and I tried to tell hr that there was going to be a catch but she didn’t listen. The guy did not say anything about people who wants to pay off their student loans or how to buy a car. HE KEPT TALKING ABOUT MECHANICS11 He was only talking to people who wanted to start a buisness and that’s what my mother was there for. My mother was so excited that whe we got home she howed me her buisness plan and said that NGc will help her. She fell asleep because she was 100% sure tat they would. I took my debit card up there to pay but thank God it was declined. My mother went to the library and found a grant writing book there was also books on foundations even one from Kalamazoo County. I looked up some of those 1000′s of foundations and most had limitations and that no grants were given to indivuals. I personally feel like its a wastre of time to get this trillion dollars worth of free money. The guy even said we had to go to Grand Rapids for a 3-Day workshop and my mother and I don’t even have a car, and it ttok place on a Sunday and there’s no public transportaion on that day, we even took a taxi. All I can say is buy some books the ones at the library, just kep looking for the 15,000 agencies that we were told, and don’t give up. Or maybe we can ask Donald Trump what to do, me I’ll just keep just playing the lottery.

73. Lilian - April 8, 2009

I thought I might go to a seminar so I looked them up this morning and found this thread.

For those who were scammed, I am sorry for your frustration and losses, but I am also very appreciative you took the time to let others know of your misfortune. That takes courage, integrity, and caring. Thank you, thank you.

And to the person who signed ‘I’m laughing’ on April 2… your outward lack of compassion tells me you probably understand at a deep level what these respondants have been through…perhaps you have been scammed in your life too, but please keep in mind shaming and name calling doesn’t serve anyone, least of all you. I would also like to thank you (and an earlier poster) for the information about NCG’s bankruptcy in December. I am sure that information will help someone who is deciding whether to join the seminar.

Be well all

74. Nearly Scammed - April 13, 2009

Thank you all so much. You saved me time, gas, and boredom. I registered for one of NCG’s conferences last night, but decided to check them out this morning. Fortunately, this site was listed second on the Google search results listed as “National Grants Conferences scam”. You bet it was the FIRST listing I clicked.

For those of you who may scoff, scorn, or laugh at those of us who go after ads like NCG’s, remember we have dreams and needs just like everyone. In these tough times we are desparate to find a way to satisfy especially the needs. Unless you are diligent about doing your homework to search out such scams and hoaxes, you have little way of knowing that a business has been in bankruptcy or is a scam. It isn’t exactly the headline of the evening news.

Thanks again all . . . especially those who set up this site.

75. Dee - April 16, 2009

Oh my god! I attended a seminar this Monday in Columbus Ohio and it all seemed to good to be true. At the end the representative seemed more interested in getting peoples credit card information instead of answering questions. I decided I’d come home and do some research before dishing out $1000. I’m so glad I did. Thank you all so much for your stories and comments! You all saved me $1000!!!!!

76. dummy - April 18, 2009

Thank you! I almost got taken.Somebody has to look out for the little guy.Capitalism at its finest!

77. Jen Haas - April 19, 2009

I see these bastards are in the Midwest. A friend of mine who while still having a very skilled full time job is living off of less than $80 a week after child support, absolutely beyond trying to make ends meet. (We are in a very rural part of America, there is no such thing as cities and ghettos here just hard times.)
But He asked me to investigate this seminar coming up in Madison. So I did.

What a surplus of info. If you are thinking about visiting these people stay at home. They are just out there to drain the last few dimes that so few people have left. Pretty much they should have a catch phrase in their advertising like, “Selling hope to the hopeless and stealing from those who almost have nothing.”
So many of us have so little left, and to con people into charging this on plastic. At some point don’t you think visa and MasterCard would get sick of stopping charges and refunding payments to a particular company??? Especially in $1000 increments. Maybe this is just me but perhaps this lays with lax in judgment by higher powers, in allowing this to obviously not only go on but grow. What the hell?????
(Although I do see that some isolated intercessions have occurred.)
The nuns in my old catholic school used to say “If it seems to good to be true….” and we always knew the rest of that statement.
These people are crooks and honestly if we are starting to put 70 something year old men in prison for 120 years for white collar crimes then wouldn’t this reverend of the Proven Schemes Network fall into the same category. We all just don’t have billions for them to steal. If we did though….. come to think of it they’d probably take that somehow too.

78. Kristin - April 20, 2009

I also attended 2 NGC conferences in MA. I must say these people are good. The first time I attended I was ready to fall in head first. Luckily I didn’t have a method of payment with me. They were still in MA the next day so my husband and I decided to go together and prob would have been ready to sign up but before we left something told me to check them out online. I AM SO GLAD WE DID. I found out how many have gotten scammed out of thousands. We still went but with a whole other outlook. The salesman was Trent Ellingford and trust me when I say he is good at his job. At the end of the two hours he even had me and my husband convinced even after what we found on the net. But something told me to do more research so we did not sign up and will not. Yes this company has filed chapter 11 in 2008 and is facing multiple lawsuits. If you do go to the conference be aware you are in for a sales pitch and they will try to get you to sign up no questions asked AND if you don’t spend the $999 on NGC don’t worry they have another scam coming after the break.
They will bring in another salesman named MJ to sell you on UNIM WEB LLC or Auction Teacher they will claim to get you set up with an online business and a commercial website and marketing on ebay (we are already established ebay sellers) but we were curious and for $400 we did buy but once we started looking at the material we immediately stopped payment on the check we used. The material is out of date (by atleast 3 or 4 years) and directs you to more wholesale and drop shipping scams. I know alot of people know about NGC but there really nothing about the second scam they present as well. If you truly want to start on ebay look up Skip Mcgrath. I am not affiliated with him in anyway but his material on starting on ebay is the best I have found. He answers his phone to answer your questions, e-mails personally and actively sells on ebay now.

PLEASE DO NOT GET SCAMMED LIKE 25 PEOPLE YESTERDAY THAT SPENT $1000 FOR NOTHING!!

79. Kristin - April 20, 2009

In reference to my previous post we were told by a staff person there that they are in chap. 11. He reference circuit city as a company in chap. 11 and look where they are now. In reference to the multiple lawsuits it is based on my own research and reading.

80. Lexx - April 22, 2009

WOW!!!
I also attended this workshop and paid my hard earned cash well I didn’t have it and borrowed and it is almost a year. I call them all the time I have to be on hold for so long often I just hang up. But my experience is that they will help you by telling you that your business plan is not correct they will not correct it or tell you how to they just tell you whats wrong, in the workshop they said we will teach you and we make sure you get your first grant in 30 to 90 days. I still have not gotten a grant or even a loan and I own my own business!!! This is such a scam and families are dying because they spend their money with them thinking it would solve money problems…GOD HELP THEM!!

John - August 21, 2009

Lets start a class action lawsuit — lets get the message out to the media — enough of us get together we can do something and get these guys in jail….

81. Kai - April 29, 2009

Wow, thank you all for the warning. My mom saw one of their ads on TV, and took it at face value because they lead the viewer into thinking it is a government sanctioned non-profit organization. She brought it to my attention because I am trying to pay my way through college from a minimum wage job and a couple of scholarships, but am still pretty far behind moneywise. I don’t even have 1,000 dollars free to spend at the moment, so I wouldn’t have gone for it anyways, but at least you saved me the trip and the boredom!

82. Edward - April 30, 2009

Yea my mom is being scamed right now. She doesn’t believe anything anyone has to say about it. Shes just looking for the quick way to get $$$, shes already put probably over $3000 into it. You know they are going to be asking for more money eventually its just a matter of time. They just keep sweet talking her and telling her everything she wants to hear. It doesn’t help when her husband is a complete idiot and keeps telling her to do it. I just hope I can get her to believe this befor its to late.

83. Jack - April 30, 2009

For those people who are actually paying this money, thinking they are getting help stop while you can. The internet can be used for everything all you have to do is alittle research and you can find everything you need.

84. mary rubino dambrosio - May 11, 2009

All these posts are shocking! And the company went bankrupcy in december 2008! But they keep doing conferences and conferences where people pays them thousands of dollars….unbelievable! One single question: where is the government and the police? Mary

we went to there meeting in Tucson Arizona and after an hour of total BS I asked how do we get info on the Grants and the speaker Terry who was a self proclaimed entrapaner and single parent told me that would take hours to explain then my wife accused him of jabbering and double talk and that we came to see instead of answering her questions some guy appeared out of no where and asked us to leave so I was not able to get my 500.00 gift certificate for Walmart LOL call your better business bureau and attorney general so this company that has already been banned from some states and is presntly in bankruptcy can no longer prey on the elderly and down and out people HELP

As a stranger in this country,I wander where are the POLICE the CIA,the FBI ,and finaly the watch dogs of this country!
Citizens are trouble during this recession and are looking for an answer to their problems.
This criminal are croussading arround the country making money off inocent people.
I wander about the morales of those who proclames work as sinators and congressmen yet participating this horrific acts. What are the lines drown between leadership to protect people of this country.
Last night after running the street looking for Job I decided to go to this conference of free money.I was completely depress from the presure imposed about this programs to conferenciees.

I knew somthing is wrong and I decided to Google this company and their reputations.

Thank God for the information I received here.

90. Cheryl - May 29, 2009

Wow,
There is much information here. I went to an NGC conference this past April, 2009. I listened intently to everything that was said and came away with some good information. I was unable to join due to my financial status, however today May 29, 2009 I got a call from a representative of NGC who wanted to know what I had not joined. After a short discussion he offered me a payment plan imagine that! He was even willing to take all of my payment information over the telephone (not) I still believe that they share some good information and I would think that with that information you would have to do some work on your own. The cost by the way was not going to be 1, 000 dollars for a membership it will be 1,500. Not giving any of my hard earned money up for nothing. Thanks for all the information this site has provided

91. Ernest - May 31, 2009

I had a different experience with NGC and yes I invested $1000 but it was worth it. I’m well aware of their other programs and fee requirements but found the information on eBay for less. As an entrepreneur I know for a fact nothing happens overnight and thus it takes a lot of hard work to get from point A to point B. When attending a conference I find it best to ask yourself “Can I commit myself to making this program work or will I stick it on a shelf and allow it to collect dust”. A majority of NGC attendee’s are looking for a get rich quick program and believe me when I say this if a program like that truly existed then we would all be rich. When investing in the Stock Market you’re taking a risk and NGC is the something. Upon attending part two of the conference I met several people whom I exchanged numbers and information with thus learned of other tools, which I purchased on eBay for half the price. Anyway, I got a grant for $15,000 and all I invested was $1,000.

92. LotusGemini - May 31, 2009

I just received the same handwritten note in the mail today….tried to make it as though a friend sent it to me…a handwritten note with the letter “J” signed..and 2 tickets to a seminar AND a $500 gift voucher from major retailer of my choice (Lowes, Best Buy, WalMart, etc)…wow, what a new tactic…almost got me there…as I am unemployed and in desperate need. Also I am familiar with non-profits and grant writing..at times having a book with foundation names already researched can be quite helpful…but thank you for all of your information. I wont waste the time I could be looking for a job or looking for legitimate foundations for grants by going and watching poor people being scammed…..I assume the few positive quotes on this page are probably written by infiltrators! So sad to take advantage of the economic situation of our time!

93. JM - June 11, 2009

I just signed up for the SOLE INTENTION of cashing in on the $500 “Merchant Redemption Voucher” – does anyone know if this is a scam too??

Ana C. - August 3, 2009

Ana. August 2, 2009
I went to the conference on Saturday and ask for the voucher. A man who I asked give me a “voucher” that is the same think in the letter with the admition tikets, only in big paper. The “voucher” is nothin more than a series of logons printes. It have no pin numbers nor blanks to fill your information as a legitime holder, nor a punch to credit the validity, nothink to validated the the “voucher” as a Voucher.

94. Kristin - June 11, 2009

I believe it is a scam tactic as well. I went and never got anything and the $500 gift voucher was never mentioned or given thought it was advertised.. Even people who joined didn’t get it..

95. Sharon - June 14, 2009

I attended their seminar in Tampa, FL today. I expected a “pitch” but their infomercials said how much info I’d learn for “free” in the conference so I decided to attend. Nothing is free with them. $1,000 to sign up and attend a 3-day training session 2 weeks from now. All I learned was that they are just another company preying on people who are in desparate straights. The woman next to me was sold but she had to call her husband, who was watching the kids, to come because she was hesitant to commit without him. He came and after 15 minutes they wisely left without buying. I, too, was tempted but if it sounds too good to be true, IT IS. Don’t waste your time with these pitch men, which is all they are. I found this thread after-the-fact but I hope my input helps.

96. Almost Scammed - June 16, 2009

I attended the National Grants Conference yesterday in Raleigh NC and paid the $1,000 and called today to cancel after checking them out on the BBB. This company has a F rating with the BBB which is very bad. I would like you to know that I called them to cancel and got some guy name Kenny who was very nice at first until I told him the reason Im canceling is because of their rating with the BBB. His whole attitude changed and went into a defensive mode stating that the only reason that they have an F is because the company refused to pay the $5,000 fee that the BBB charged them. He also went as far as saying the Disney got a F rating, and two restrants in California received F ratings. Well I didn’t just give Disney and those other two restrants a $1,000 either. He also said that they were in the process of trying to get that A rating. Well I told this guy that if it were me and all I had to do was pay $5,000 just to get a A rating from BBB I would pay it. Now you and I know that there is more to this story or else they would have just paid it. He gave me a return number to return the material given to me at the Conference. After hanging up with him It dawned on me that I would have to pay to return this. So I called right back and got a guy name Howell. I told Howell that I don’t think its right that I have to pay to return the material. Kenny told me that I that he could arrange for a one time UPS pickup. I asked him why didn’t the other guy even offer this to me, he said it depends on how you pay. He said that I qualify since I paid by Visa. If I had paid by check I would have to pay to return it. I was told to call them back in the morning to get a “Call Tag #” that I will need call UPS with so that they can UPS can tell me when they can come to my house and pick it up. He also told me that it takes up to 10 busness days to get all of my money back. Stay tuned to see how this goes. Wish me luck it sounds like I’ll need it.

97. Jaz - June 17, 2009

I went to a seminar last night and I was upset because my daughter had my business credit card. THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have done this. I was even willing to go to the next 3 day meeting with my 1000.00 in hopes they would take it and let me attend. I am so glad I read all of these comments. I even saw a young lady that I knew and she signed up. I just so happened to get her phone # before I left. As soon as I finish writting this comment I am going to call her and tell her to cancel her membership asap!!!!!!!!
THIS IS SO SAD that people can take innocent peoples money as hard as times are now. These people are demons.

98. Gloria - June 18, 2009

I attended the National Grants Conference on Monday (06/13/2009) in Raleigh NC and paid the $1,000 and called today to cancel after talking with Jaz (ran into her at the seminar). She informed me of all the negative comments on the internet and how so many had been scammed. This is awful!!
I spoke with a rep that appeared to be very nice. He advised that I return the kit. The rep gave me a return authorization # to attach to the package. I am going to do a postal tracking by 2 day express to assist with the process. I Hope all goes through smoothly….. Will see if there are any problems later. I pray not.
Thanks for contacting me Jaz!!!
I hope this company gets what’s coming to them. This is so wrong on how they are getting away with such a rip off!!

John - August 21, 2009

Hey Gloria ,,, I have been trying to get my money back since June and I have done all they have asked correctly nad have all the proof. About to take them to small claims court. Also want to start a class action lawsuit with all…

99. Almost Scammed - June 18, 2009

Just an FYI, If you received any type of mailing from some anonymous person with ticket to any type of free Seminar or Conference, just know that it’s a scam and discarded it. I recieve these types of mailings periodically that contain no return address or name other than an initial. I have come to the conclusion that they are all link in some way to some type of scam. If you ever wander how that “gardian angle” got your name and demographics, just know that you are not special and just think back to a seminar or a conference that you may have attended in the past or responded to and somehow or somewhere you gave them your name and address. These people have a database with our information and when ever thay are hosting a scam coming soon to an area nearest you, then you somehow receive an anonymous mailing with a free ticket and a news paper clipping telling you that this is the best thing since sliced cheese and that you must come see this wonderful thing. Know this is a scam and don’t waist your precious time and money. So if these people have your information you best believe you will be hearing from them again just in another scammable way. Don’t give these crooks that time of day. They won’t use the same name they are probably affiliated with other scams so they keep your information so that when they put together their next scam you are one of the first people they will notify. Why? Because they know that you are likely to come out and listen to them preach the “GOOD WORD and likely to fall for it. Only because you’ve fallen for the free ticket before they see you as easy pray. Don’t let them lable you as easy prey, throw that garbage in the garbage when ever you receive it in the mail. Hopefully eventually they will get the message and stop sending it. Im sure that track those people who respond to those mailings and if they come out to the events. And do you know what the speaker had the nerve to say at that conference? He said if you just lost your job congratulation!

100. Dave - June 18, 2009

I heard about this program and attended the free sales pitch. I did not sign up for anything.
I notice that there are some on this website who say they received help and many others who are trying to get their money back or are just assuming it is a scam which it may be.
My question would be to those who bought the program.
How many actually went thru the process of trying to get a grant? Were the people at NGC totally unavailable or of no help at all?
Were you totally ignored when you tried to make contact with them?

101. JOY and LEE - June 19, 2009

SCAM, SCAM, SCAM
I attended their conference on April 26, 09 in Atlanta, GA, and a day later I read a negative reports published by the Better Business Bureau in Atlanta, Ga. and other negative reports about this company scam they are advertising and present. In less than twenty four hours I cancelled the transaction with National Grant Conferences, and up to this date it has been a nightmare with National Grant Conferences telling me one lie after another. My daughter spoke with one of the representative also on June 18, 2009, who said the refund was not processed and the account has been closed since May 1, 2009, but a another payment was charged and the kit was not sent on May 7, 2009. She apologized for any inconveniences. That I should fax over our bank statements showing these charges. Recently they told me that the money was deposited on May 27, 2009, and the bank should check their files and today is June 19, 2009 and the funds are still not in my account. This company is a Fraud! And unfortunately are we one of their victims, they are taking advantage of a senior citizen who was fool by how they could help me get grant money to improve my home and help my daughter and I open a daycare center.

John - August 21, 2009

Join us in a class action lawsuit !!!

SANDY - February 5, 2010

WHAT DO WE DO????

102. Ruth - June 21, 2009

I attended their conference in Houston, Texas. Desperate to make a change in my finances, but I was hesitant. $1000 dollars is a lot to the working class. I think out of the box but one has to be realistic as well. This Grant has been haunting me since the seminar and I have felt like this may be my way out. I was even willing to go online and purchase it at full price because I was “Almost suckered in.” I found this site by reseaching it in order to try and purchase it. Thank you so much for putting this out there. Another has been save. I will forward this to my friends who I told ablut this and who attended the semnar with me.

103. Tina - June 23, 2009

I am glad I researched this company before I went to the seminar tonight. I registered for a seminar tonight in california and I would have really been pissed for the waste of time to drive and the money they would try to scam. Thank you for the postings.

104. Rita - June 23, 2009

I went to the conference with my mother and learned a lot. The workbooks and CD’s were powerful and opened my eyes to the possibilities of what a little determination and hard work coupled with the education and support of National Grants Conferences could do. I was able to receive a $25,000 first time home buyer loan. It’s only a 700 sq. ft. condo, but after 40 years of living in America, I can finally say that I finally have a place of my own. NGC may not be for everyone, but it was certainly for me!

105. Judy W - June 26, 2009

National Grants Conferences exceeded my expectations. Like most people, I thought only the big guys got grants. I had applied a couple of times before and never received responses from the agencies. After a lot of research and team work, NGC located a renewable grant that I qualified for. It has enabled us, and will continue to allow us in the future to make improvements to our non-profit day care center that we could have never afforded any other way. Last week we received they second check and next week, the nursery will have brand new flooring installed. I am sure there are a lot of people out there that think a big sack of money is going to fall out of the sky. The truth is, hard work, patience, and an open, teachable mind is needed to succeed here and National Grants is the support center to help you along the way. Just ask the kids when they see their new playground at the day care center!!

106. ralphmc - June 28, 2009

Well Judy W. you could have received the grant anyway by just applying for it they are available online on your local Government “Grants” link.
NO need what so ever to pay ANYONE of these Jerks money!
I received a letter with what seems to be a News Paper Page clipped out, with only my First name printed, on a “posted” Note signed by “J”. The envelop had no return address and a standard “bulk” mail stamp on it. Also in it where two tickets to attend the “National Grants Conferences” They have booked 3 dates in Nashville, TN in 3 hotels, and I am ready to send a couple friends from the FBI to those meetings, they have their office right down the street from me. As an added lure they have a business card looking $500 “Merchant Redemption Voucher” in the envelope to, to get you to go!
That in itself is already a “natural” sign of SCAM Artists. So I researched this and found your BLOG here. I have awesome Lawyer in Los Angeles, who is very familiar with the 5 guys that are running this scam; he will go for the kill soon. Now get this – their contact info links back to this KNOWN SCAM Site:
Proven Methods

+1 800 440 8775 x245

One more thing he said any URL ending in “COM” on what looks like a Government Site – is a SCAM! Governments are “GOV” and nothing else. NOW look at their URL: http://www.usa800.com/rback/ngc/wr/terms.htm – this is none registered domain name! – It is what is called link-back to a hosting company outside of the USA = probably Russia.

Guys don’t fall for it, please!!!!

107. Aean - July 5, 2009

Just saw the infomercial and found myself getting all excited and making plans to attend the seminar. Then, I remembered how skeptical I am of infomercials, especially those claiming I can make x amount of money in such a short time. So, I jumped online and did some research and here I am reading all manner of negative complaints. I take this to heart because if these people were truly satisified, they wouldn’t be complaining, right?

I slipped up one time and signed up for a satellite internet company which I will name: Wild Blue. Normally, I research first, join later. Well, I didn’t and signed up. After doing so, I researched and found an alarming number of un-satisfied customers. Some were happy, but were probably Wild Blue coverts. I immediately called to have my service cancelled, even before the parts arrived in the mail. We’re talking the next day. They said ok, then when the items arrive to just send them back with a provided return shipment slip they would send. I did so. Three days later, my checking account overdrafts and I find Wild Blue has charged me $56 restocking fee. A fee that corresponds so conveniently with their monthly rate.

Regarding National Grants. It’s sad to see people who are willing and greedy enough to rob from others. Especially in times like these. Remember that Matthew Lesko guy in the green suit with dollar signs all over it? The one who does all the Free Money books (which is nothing more than information you can find at a library or online). Apparently, his company is somehow chummy with National Grants. Both are considered scams.

It’s really sad.

Research EVERYTHING before committing!

108. LeRoy - July 9, 2009

I too need information for this CLASS ACTION SUITE if anyone knows a good attorney I would be pleased to offer half of my $1000.00 to the attorney for his services and there are others here if join my fight then this Lawyer could rake in a good deal of funds foir his services

John - August 21, 2009

I want to join the lawsuit !

109. Rob - July 14, 2009

So why doesn’t anyone shut them down. Just like these fraudulent internet sites. SHUT THEM DOWN. Why do people of america keep getting burned from The Same People???

110. SERGIO - July 17, 2009

I AM GLAD I SEARCHED THESE FUCK ASS LYING BASTARDS…I WAS ABOUT TO GO TO ONE OF THEIR CONFERENCES IN MEMPHIS, TN ON DEMOCRAT AVE. THEN TEH FARTS OFFERS YOU A MERCHANT REDEMPTION VOUCHER BUT AT THE SMALL PRINTS SAYS, “HOLDER OF REDEMPTION VOUCHER MUST MEET TERMS AND CONDITIONS REQUIRED BY THE PROVIDER OF THIS REBATE OFFER.” MEANING, GIVE UP THE $1000 AND YOU MIGHT GET THE VOUCHER AS PROMISED. S.O.B WE AMERICAN CITIZENS AND OTHERS NED TO GET TOGETHER ON ONE OF THEIR EVENTS AND SABOTAGE THEIR SO CALLED HELP.

111. SERGIO - July 17, 2009

112. Kyle - July 21, 2009

Hi all!

Thank you for this blog. Fortunately, when I attended the fall 2008 NGC conference in Portland, OR, I had an intuition that despite my desperation to start my own business, this was all too good to be true–and it was. Most everything that you all have said is true: NGC must hire a well-practiced actor as their speaker, he never said word one of how the process actually worked, and he spent almost the whole time either belittling others for not advocating for themselves and relying on the government, or boasting about how great the NGC program has been to him and that he “was just doing a favor for NGC” by being there as a non-paid advocate of their scam program. And, just like your stories, about 15 – 20 people actually gave their $1,000 away–I couldn’t believe that they did, either! I should have warned them that they would never see that money again!

I believe that we should all get together & contact a federal attorney to start a class action lawsuit so that these poor souls can get their money back. Any thoughts on how to start this process???

Also, are there any legitimate external sources for grants or loans for start-up businesses out there that any one can help me find?

113. Sharon Parkins - July 24, 2009

The reason why so many people think this is a scam is because you don’t want to do any or little work! Writing up a grant proposal is very very hard work and it take a lot of time, more than 40 hours a week. I spent 80 hours and after many problems I did receive my grant!! I am so happy but I have never worked so hard in my life. I am 23 years old and I never graduated high school. However, I am a very determined and hard working person and yes, I did pay $1000 to go to the 3 day seminar. I struggled to pay my rent on time that month because I spent money on this instead. But I decided to do whatever it took and when I want something I will do anything to get it! It didn’t happen as fast as I wanted but after 3 months of research, running into dead ends and help from my counselor and other people like lawyers (my uncle) I finally did it!! I am now in the process of moving into my first home. Maybe I was successful because I had a really good speaker. His name was Gus and I learned so much. In fact I don’t ever remember being excited about the info that i was learning. He gave us a lot of encouragement. But I have to admit my fiance who is 11 years older than me helped me. Anyway, sorry you people didn’t get what you wanted out of this but I did!

Greg - September 9, 2009

Please tell me more. I have been to one of these conferences and I would llike to join but I am leary. So please tell me more.

Thanks Greg

114. readfirst - July 27, 2009

thank you all for this suit because me and my daugter was about to go to the conference until we seen this suit . thank you memphis, tn

115. LaTonya Leigh - July 29, 2009

All I can say is WOW! My sister received the letter in the mail with two tickets and wanted to go to the NGC here in Memphis, TN. I asked her what it was about and she went on about how this company will help you get grants from the government to buy home, start business, ect. She also said in the envelope was a card for a “500.00″ gift card from Walmart for attending. I told her that there is no way this company will fork over gift cards valued at 500.00 for everyone who atteneded. So she wanted to go and check it out. I knew from the beginning that this was a total scam. The speaker was just like the rest of the speakers your mention on this site. He was sucessful, have several properties that were funded by the same program (he says he’s been a member for 11 years) and whitty. He began the program claiming he was not there to sell anything, gave us the definition of a wealthy thinker vs a poor thinker. Went on about how much more this program would cost if we chose to go to another compay and that the 999.00 was a steal since it wouldn’t matter because they are gonna help you get thousnds of dollars from the government. After he spoke for about 2 hours and explained how much the program would be (999.00 and 29.95 per month AFTER 6 months on a month to month basis) he gave a 10 minuet break so that whoever wanted to purchase the kit could do so. I just could not believe how many people who ran in line to throw their hard earned money away. People could not see through the smoke. There were NO questions allowed or asked during the entire time he talked and after the break another guy came up for what he says would be 45 min to sell yet another scam package. This guy wanted to sell some sort of package that would “help” you with your website through UNIM web. He called it an affiliate program where he will show you how to make money by affiliating with big name companies (have there logo/web address on your web page) and it was selling for 297.00! And wouldn’t you know it, some of the people that bought the 999.00 package also got suckered into buying this one as well. So after sitting through the second speak for about an hour and a half we began to leave. People started questioning the so call 500.00 gift card. So they said that the “free material” was being handed out at the door. There was no 500.00 gift card. What they received was a pamphlet with rebates and had to pay a 9.95 membership to receive it! I cannot begin to tell you how upset some of those people were. The moral of this story is don’t believe everyting you hear. Don’t be lazy and expect everyting to come to you easy. I do believe there are programs out there that will help people start a business or whatever but people it will not come easy. You will have to do A LOT of research and put A LOT of effort into it. The sad thing about this is that I was speaking to a middle aged lady who admitted that she prevously paid money to another compay just as this one and they too didn’t do anything for her, needlesss to say she was one of the people that bought both kits so she spent almost 1300.00 just to be taken again. WAKE UP PEOPLE!

I went to the conference on 8-2-09 I had no money on me at the time and was told we would do some brainstorming to get in the program by the end of the week (no problem right) well when i went back to get the registration paperwork , 5 minutes later they wanted 1500.00 because I didnt have the 899.00 money that day, it was sunday for christ sakes. Thats when i thought Id better look this up on line. Im glad I did and yes if your ambitous enough to go threw alll this crap you might as well do it on your own, it would be much more rewarding in the long run anyway.

119. Mike - August 11, 2009

I just attended my 2nd conference, I went with my dad he was interested but never bought in the first time then we went again a couple days ago. I wasnt sure about them at first, but then the speaker started talking about that classical house and how he got some sort of classical restoration grant to fix the house up, the funny things is, a completely different speaker from the first conference had said that HE had bought and restored that exact same house. Thats when I knew this was a true scam.

120. D - August 14, 2009

I just received the “VIP” tickets in the mail and decided to Google the National Grant Conference.. what you’re reading is true people. Stay clear of scams like these. The Trump University seminars are the same scam and encourage you with bait-n-switch methods praying on the uninformed and down-n-out. Just because Donald Trump authorized “Trump University” to use his name doesn’t mean he is associated with it or that it will make you wealthy, I can confirm that it will not. There is no fast road to success and get rich quick schemes are just that, a scheme so be smart and invest wisely. Over 85% of the rich have real estate in their portfolio to some degree so lean in that direction but be conservative and read often. Cheers -D

Thank you for posting this site!

I have registered to attend the Portland, Oregon offer today August 16, 2009. A friend and I will still go and see what they have to say. AND I WILL print this out and take it to the seminar and leave pages for other’s to read.

This could be fun…………….We may be asked to leave like other’s have said. We will go have a nice lunch and laugh about it.

And what got me…………….they could not afford to put out some coffee and snacks for attendees………..after all they say they are making tons of money and covered the cost of the conference by selling products with profits on their website bonus program.

124. John - August 21, 2009

John — They have not sent my money back after I did everything correctly in cancelling the policy and sending there stuff back and proving they have been paid. Does anyone want to start a class action lawsuit ?

125. Mike - August 24, 2009

I saw it today on television and every example they gave with someone getting $30,000…another got 1.3 million… the fine print kept saying RESULTS NOT TYPICAL…RESULTS NOT TYPICAL…RESULTS NOT TYPICAL…what that means is it’s all bs. If results are not typical then why are you wasting our time. And then I see people paying $1000 upfront…this reminds me of the better trades company who tells you to come to the free seminar and they lecture for 2 hours, they tell you it cost $5000 to get started but for this one time offer…we’ll make it $3000…it’s so sick what people will do to cheat other people. Other scammers I have seen on television include Jeff Paul’s Shortcut to Millions, John Beck Real Estate and Russ Dalbey Cash Flow. Stay away from them or you will be scammed. They promise you this, promise you that, money back guarantee, just all bullshit. I’m fed up of these scammers saying just pay this small amount and you’ll make millions.

126. scorevolunteer - August 25, 2009

Hi I am a SCORE Volunteer, and I have many business owners wanting to go this FREE SEMINAR to get free government grants. My Advice to them is always this ” if it sounds to good to be true it probably is”. If you have to pay some one for information on how to get grants from the government is probably a scam. Do your own research and if the grants really exist you can probable find them on Google. Most start up or existing businesses do not get grants or financing from the government, financing usually comes from private investors or their own money. So do your homework and stop thinking that you will get free money to open your own business, which will end up bankrupt anyways.

went today- left at first chance -and it reminded me of Ray Reynolds it one of those -first time on me not twice please

128. Billy Pruett - August 30, 2009

We first saw the publicity about National Grant Conferences on an infomercial on FOX TV, so we thought it was legitimate. We called and made reservations for a free conference in Dallas at the Westin on August 29, 2009. Upon arrival, there was no reference to our reservation, and we filled-out a contact sheet, and was admitted for the 2+ hour presentation on getting their assistance for filing for government grants, loans and contracts. There was a contractor on the front speaker-side left corner seat named ‘Bill’ who had alledegly performed home maintenance for some of their clients who had received money with their assistance. The presenter was Rick Wiseman, supposedly a realtor from Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a skilled and entertaining speaker, circumventing controversity by calling those who might have common sense arguments as ‘gunslingers’ – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn’t. He worked the audience into participation, and initially presented the cost of their services as $1,495.00, then discounted to $999.00, with yet a special $100.00 discount if you sign-up today. He urgd the audience to just get over the initial cost, and to think outside the box, presenting slides with pictures of him and Donald Trump, which made the short Wiseman look taller. There were slides of people who had received money from the government with their assistance. Some people walked out during the presentation, but not many. There was never any money back guarantee, or questions or comments from the audience. Occasional references to legitimate government programs were made, RHS 502, RHS 504, 59.043, 59.038, 59.046, 10.769. Most of the audience were elder minorities, but there were others, young, middle-aged, but all appeared to be financially needy, yet most of them ponied-up the $899.00 with credit cards, debit cards or checks. I would guess they took in a hundred thousand or more. It was unbelievable that people were so gullible, believing they were going to get financial assistance from the information and assistance of these scammers. BUYER BEWARE. Contact the Better Business. Beureau. If you have already given them your credit card numbers, cancel ASAP. They are con artist. I only wish I had done some research before I wasted my time. Don’t waste yours.

134. oseikojo - September 18, 2009

thank you for this web- site. I attended a “national grants conference” this week, listened to the info, got a few catalogues, but did NOT spend any money. Actually I did not have any money anyway. I attended a free grant conference to make money not spend money. Also, I’ve been a salesman and a preacher and a bullshit artist most of my life so something seemed to stink. Firstly, I learned many years ago if someone is in a hurry to get your money, without your thinking til tomorrow…….its probably illegitimate B.S. Fortunately the next day(today) I’m on the internet Scam page with testimonials from those who wonder why “America” has scam artists? I’m reading the page to remind myself-there’s a sucker born every minute- if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn’t-in order to get something done you have to do it yourself….or pay someone reeaaalll well.
p.s. the guy above me who promises protection to the “middle class” sounds shady also- protection should be for everyone

135. KIRK JENSEN - September 22, 2009

Hello, to all. I Would like to why these people are not accountable for what they tell you, ask them to get what they’ re telling you in writing, then get it notarised, that way, they will be totally responsible for what they tell you. Instead of getting pissed at them or having them take advantage of you, for not knowing the truth about these people. !!!! Besides its so lame that these jerks are the ones getting rich off of the average everyday guy or girl, everyone should ask to see if we can get our media to cover these events, so they can get to the truth of the matter.I have never paid these vultures one cent, but I do feel sorry about what has happened to all of the People that have been taken for a ride, and then some.If You want the truth about these people that do work for the ngc, why not ask our own congressman, to talk to the main people responsible for lying and fleecing all of the honest, hard-working AMERICANS, instead of having them on the said infomercials, PRAISING them for their good work in helping us get the free money, instead of ripping us off. I Wish One day that our own media can cover a story with both sides, not just one side of the story. All so, its no one’ s FAULT that these criminals havn’ t been brought to justice, so we can feel better knowing that THEY ARE NOT GOING TO STOP Unless we expose these lying scum for what they really are. ITS TOO BAD To know that they won’ t ever be able to prove what they do say about getting a real grant, why not just ask them POINT BLANK RANGE, PROVE IT, QUIT TALKING ABOUT IT, JUST PROVE IT. I Have been coming to these kind of events or workshops FOR years , Its a Very Common Theme, ALL TALK, NO CREDIBILITY WHAT SO EVER. Who In their Logical Sound Mind would believe SUCH CRAP, ANYWAY ? NO GUESS ABOUT IT, WE AS A NATION HAVE BEEN SOLD OUT TO ALL OF THE LAZIEST, AND GREEDIEST CRIMINALS THAT LIVE IN THE USA. TAKE THEIR NAMES, AND THEIR NUMBERS, REPORT THEM TO EVERYONE THAT WANTS TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVES, TO AVOID SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO RIP YOU OR ME OFF. CAN BE REACHED AT KCTIBER2003@YAHOO.COM FOR ANY COMMENTS.

136. Liz - September 27, 2009

Hi: My friend and I received the same invite on the same day. I could tell right away that it was a scam just by the newspaper article. The newspaper only had a page number and date on it but not which newspaper it came from. Because I try to research these types of offers before I go, I always get the right response as far as scams go. Sadly alot of people get taken in by these people. I will always remember If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

137. Sherry - October 6, 2009

Here’s an idea. Why not print out all these negative reviews in one long sheet of paper and take them to the conference to present to the actor during his performance in front of the crowd? I just threw my tickets and voucher through the shredder or I’d go myself. Pass the word, everyone. These people are still out there because they have made scamming into an art form. Always search for reviews first.

138. hotel guy - October 13, 2009

My God! I work in the banquet dept at a hotel which National Grants uses for their “Conferences” and the very moment I first met the sales and support staff the past few years, I instantly knew they were just typical rip-off artists. Now they are returning next week, and I really feel sorry for the people they scam, almost as bad as the ‘Make money off Ebay!’ people who also advertise on local radio/TV in the weeks prior to the meeting. Last year after their meeting I heard the salesmen laughing about how many sales they made, and how ‘great’ their speaker was for fooling them.. it made me ill! I even got a copy of their ‘big book’ with the lists of potential grants, they are real grants, but you probably don’t qualify for any of them, and if you did you would know. The only thing these people cared about was having some good solid phone line so they could quickly charge the people’s credit cards! Between Banquet and Front Desk staff we asked our G.M./Owner to never be involved with them again, but the almighty $$ matters more to some people, apparently. These people are like Matthew Lesko’s evil siblings on methamphetamine–Don’t trust them!

139. Bart Sacco - Concrete Texturing Tool & Supply - October 19, 2009

I just attended the conference at the ramada inn – wilkes barree, pa. on October 16, 17 & 18 2009. They are a joke, I originally thought I was going to a conference about obtaining information on possibly getting grant. I am a local businessman and employer who has a national product distribution center. I also conduct training programs and teach contractors specialty application procedures for the decorative concrete industry. I am a current officer of a local home builder association, own housing rentals, have several full time employees and is currently moving ahead with an expansion project that will create numerous additional full time employment positions for the local people. On day of this conference my wife was with me and could not attend the next two days and asked the lady if she could come back at a later date and finish the program she said, no problem they will be in a month or so and she could finish it then.

The speaker is a real smooth taker he is seasoned in the program they feed you. The is smooth and believable at first. Speaks on how he attained his wealth, states who he knows, puts on a good act and if you did not have the experience of dealing with as many people as I do, you would could believe this guy. Says his name is Dave Alexander from rochester, ny area. He states he is an investor and owns so much stuff he dont have to really work anymore, He is just there to give us his experience…. he is a smooth piece of. I will give him that. I approach his and let him know I have a fairly large project and he sends me back to his cronie Rob Berry. I try to explain to him, this project is ready to go. All need items to launch project is together already. Now when a guy who is real and is in the position I am in in life – tells you it is complete, its complete. I have stormwater managenment plans, building plans, site development plans, equipment list, electric plan, power requirements of operation, product lables, msds sheets of product, tech data sheets, dust collection requirements, you name it the list is long and it is all covered from start to completion. I even have my financing approved and the project is launching. Rob Berry tells he they have great councilors and i will love talking with them when i get in the program.. He sends me off.. I approach the speaker again and this guy is dodging me and really dont want to engage in conversation about this project. The next day my wife is not with me and he goes on with the program, they pull some bullshit saga with the Ramada not scheduling properly and nobody needs to take notes, they will help you out and print them out for you. He blows through his program, now I am a sharp guy, i understand what he is getting across and it is all about real estate, big dreams, and how anybody can do it. You could do this with no money down, I can show you… This is all leading up to get you to — BUY ANOTHER PROGRAM – the
fool goes on, he is smooth and a professional talker you have to remember that. The end of day two comes and i offer this jackass my business card and try to engage conversation with this guy, he blows me off with extremely quick small talk and will not exchange business cards with me, I asked him if I can have his card and his response was. Nobody gets access to my number until they buy into the next program.. Now I know I have a con man here at this point. and my response to him is Why would you think, i would do more business with you, if you cant answer the original question, I came here for in the first place. HE Says if I dont take advantage of getting into the power 2000 group they won’t be back here for a long time.. Different from the time line his wife discussed with my wife the day before when she asked about making up the two days she will miss. I promised him I would check up on him before we discuss anything future.

I went to my Office and started pulling up all kind of bad information on these people. I can run credit checks and all sorts of neat stuff from my office, remember now – I am a real businessman and have a massive amount of resources at my fingertips. Remember really do business dealings nationwide and abroad in the real world. day to day everyday. I even shipped product to Camp David when George & Laura Bush took over, supplied product for many communities- even Washington, DC crosswalks before the last election, I supply great adventure parks, large road scape projects, I send product to casinos in vegas, atlantic city the new phila park casino and I have material in about every city on the eastern seaboard. Trust me I have been in business over 20 years to get where I am at in life. Business is not easy but it is obtainable. This guy is filling the audience’s head with how “easy it is” ..

I do a check up on this guy, he is nowhere to be found in the Rochester Area, I find a David in a neighboring town and found his photo but its not our guy at the seminar, find another one in Dallas he is an investor but its, not out guy. I cant find anything on him or his wife becouse he said her name and my wife sopke with her. You cant find nothing on these people, they are invisible.. lol. The only address that comes up is west street in rochester. Look at google earth this is in an industrial zone next to railroad track. Small rental but a listing anyway. for or five listings in Florida, Moved from place to place, I found judgments against them for not paying rent. Better business buear of southern florida rate them at an F that is really bad folks. they have law suites in vermont, calif and other states. They filed bankrupcy under chapter 7 & 11, look up the difference. They screwed a lot of people that what that means. They even had one company of their control sue another company they owned. do you think that sound legit ? I can not find any UCC Filings on this guy and if he owned what he states, trust me. I would find something on this dirtball.. I asked my wife to sign us up for this conference, she went to the pre meeting and paid 800.00 to go to get the data needed for a grant. She said it sounded like a good thing she is a smart girl, masters degree – professional. They caught her with a good like of shit, I went for some legitimate information – there dont have it. They instead switched the program to more about real estate and how to grow your wealth, its easy. Now they already primed us to buy into the next up level and I was on to them. I would not buy into anything they sell. They are selling a big old bag of hope and dreams to some folks who really cant afford to waist there money on this kind of stuff. I felt bad for some of the people there who dont have the resource to check people out like I do and really dont’ have the money to waste. I found more bad stuff on this company than good.. Actually there is no good – I found. Look deep into them – you will be amazed. I went in on the third morning and told them I want a refund they did not live up to what the program was suppose to be about. There was nothing there helpful on grants at all..NOTHING – ZIP – ZERO It was a bullshit scam to suck people into thinking they are going to be financially independent. Business is great if you have the proper abilities to succeed. I wish everyone there good luck with these smooth talking idiots. I walked out the last morning of the event after I did my research on them. They did not give the refund and said they didnt have a credit card terminal to process the return. Come on now, I have a merchant account of my own I know better. These guys are full of it and tommorrow I will file a report with our Attorney Generals Office reporting our experience.

140. Robert - October 22, 2009

Wow! kudos to this web site and thank GOD for the WWW. I’m not sure if NGC is a scam, but your site provides tons of food for thought. I don’t think I’ll be forking over my $1000. Thank you to those for sharing their experiences. For those considering NGC – read on….

141. Frances - November 3, 2009

141- Frances-November 2,2009

I just attended this conference, today. It is exactly as these reviews say. A lot of sales pitch and no solid information. They promise to answer questions, but instead ask for your credit cards saying there is limited packages to be sold-due to the limited space at the 3 day seminar. They do have a 3 day cancellation notice, which after reading all of the above I plan to exercise. I’ve already called my credit card company. Let this be a lesson to all-do your homework before attending. What I don’t understand is that our Goverment gets their fingers in everything so why not
here, when they have filed BK and still taking people for a ride?? I als check with the Better Business Bureau of Florida and they rated them an “F”.

142. Reuben Fenton - November 13, 2009

This grant company is in the US Virgin Islands November 15th – 18th 2009, doing what they do best.

143. Michael Johnson - November 18, 2009

The grant company is in southfield,mi doing the same old scam

144. juardian paje - November 18, 2009

yep. anyone who gets information on grants of any sort, in particular the $0 down, 0% interest, NO monthly payments grant lemme know
bandaidsrcool@yahoo.com
housing grants in michigan DO exist, though noone except the directors seem to have a clue. CNN did a thing on $25k for anyone who’d buy a house in detroit, though apparently that was a lie.

**The closest to it i can find is a $25k grant for ppl buying a foreclosed home in ‘troubled areas’ that doesn’t need much (IF ANY) renovation before being habitable, and i believe it’s a 10yr forgiven grant.
like i said >> bandaidsrcool@yahoo.com << say hi!! always wanting to learn more

145. Philding McCullers - November 18, 2009

I got a letter in the mail with no return address with a sticky note on the inside saying “Hey Philding check this out”. Attached to the sticky note was a news paper and two tickets to the NGC. I was wondering how did they know my name and adress, and what urged them to send the letter to me? When I acually went the whole thing seemed like a scam. First off why would I pay you a $1000 for information I can find out myself on the internet for free. Secondly, if they wanted to sound more convencing, they would have said they would help you get the grant for free and you will pay the $1000 after you recieve the grant money.

146. Hernando Garcia - December 3, 2009

Thank you all for this information, I was already invited to the conference in Miami, Sunday Dec.6, 2009. I made made my subscription on line. I do not find way to cancel it. I hope I would do not have any problem, because they already have my email address. Thank again for your advise.

I went to the Wisconsin seminar during the summer at the Brookfield Sheraton – I am wondering if anyone else went and bought into it? I didn’t come with money that evening and was on the fence any ways – definitely a fast sell as the more I thought about it on the way home the more questions I had – did anyone who bought that night have any insight to their offer?

Barbara Gonzalez - January 6, 2010

Here is my inside. Be glad that you did not buy their unuseless package because you would have regreted your whole life. I did buy it and I did went to their worshop. It was full of BS the same thing you saw at the first so called FREE conference that ended as a sales picth. The worshop was completely about BS and another sales picth for us to buy a software to be able to do bsuiness plan and much more. The cost GUEST??? $19,000.00 anothe huge SCAM. You can contact me at 305-476-9000 or via Email: alechb1981@aol.com. I am going to fight those people until I put them out of business TRUST ME on THAT

148. Mrs. Trepanier - December 14, 2009

149. Jason Jones - December 19, 2009

Well. I signed up several years ago and I paid $1000 and spent several days supposedly getting educated. I had lots of questions and their customer service or coaches never returned my calls. I then moved to another state and totally forgot about the program. Several years later after watching their convincing infomercial I decided to wipe the dust off their package and they reinstated my membership for $400 and sent me a new set of books geared for my state. I then had the same issue with customer service…. basically no service. A couple of months went by and I saw another infomercial and now I really got interested so I called customer service and they gave me a pass for the conference and I thought they did the right thing. Well after the first day I saw the dog and pony show immediately so I went over to talk to one of their reps to discuss my disappointment in their customer service and he talked me into a $2995 and guaranteed me that I will receive customer service since I was gonna be a platinum member. Now, shmuck me fell for it and forked over the money. I started to work on the program and had lots of questions again and this time I didn’t let go. I finally received a tiny box with a CD in it which had to be activated… well, the activation code didn’t work and I spent days trying to talk to someone and that never happened. Finally someone called me back and gave me a number to activate the CD. While I was on the phone with the 3rd party she mentioned to me that this service will be charged to card at a rate of $29.99 and what this service does is gets you foreclosure leads. I decided not to continue with the activation since I’ve been buying foreclosures for almost 7 years and I subscribe to a fabulous service that notifies me of a NOD filings within 15 minutes of filing. I tried to get a hold of customer service again and I did receive a return phones call stating that a coach will call me within 7 days and he cannot pinpoint a time because the staff is moving from New York to Florida. This didn’t sit right with me so I called sales and asked for a refund and I was informed that since I opened the package I’m not entitled to a refund. I tried charging back the charge and my bank didn’t cooperate with me since I used a bankcard.

The biggest kicker… that as a for profit business you get shit for a grant. It’s that simple, you need to be a 501c3 not-for-profit. I since signed up with another company and its working great so far.

How can we stop these crooks? I think we all need to write to our Attorney General and block them from coming into our states and blast them on the internet and whenever they do show up in your state, sit in the lobby with a poster about the scammers and hand out fliers.

150. b trent - December 29, 2009

I went there and sat through all of the seminar then bought the ngc pkg and several more items and it is all a money making scam for them . The program is only useable for a year or so then you have to pay more money to be reinstated. Refucked I say. I was a fool don’t do it . Wasted money and time.

Back in the 1990s and early 2000s-2001 I think the company was a reputable one because I spoke to African Americans who actually obtained grants and were doing well. I would have signed on as a college student if I had the money but I didn’t. However, I’m glad I read this board because now I know the company is no longer reputable.

158. Amelegomb - November 11, 2010

My goal is to build my very own project since there aren’t any nice jobs around the market.

Can someone provide any recommendations or sites about how to find government grant money to begin with my own business? I have been previously looking on the internet but just about every web site demands for money and I’ve been told by the unemployment office to avoid the websites that ask for money for grant info as they are scam. I’d personally be really thankful for any support.

161. Jay - January 26, 2011

I also attended a 3 day free seminar in NYC. It seem very legit at the time. I had seen the informocials on TV as well. I went ahead and purchased their starter package for $1000 for more. This was back in 2005. I tried calling them with questions I had after reading the materials and they wouldn’t return calls. I can’t believe I fell for that. Now I read they declared chapter 11. Is there a way I can file suit and reclaim my investment?

I notice I haven’t seen NGC on TV for the past year or so. Now I know why. They got $1349 of my dollars and I didn’t get the success they touted. You know, when Trump came out with his conference, I attended a session and did notice the pitch was very, very similar to NGC’s. I tried to talk with one of the reps in the back of the room while they were taking credit cards, but the guy wouldn’t pay me any mind. I got taken by NGC.

I wish I had down my research about NGC before I blindly went to one of their conferences. I too paid $1000 at a conference held in NYC. Then i had a private tutor whom advised me about starting my own business. I then paid a additional $7000. I won’t get into details because I am so ashamed of myself. However the business venture was a SCAM, I had to start the business on my own. The tutor was not helpful once I paid my money. And he had the nerve to ask me for more money to design my website and told me I was suppose to pay a monthly fee of $30.00. I HAVE REPORTED THEM TO THE BBB

Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles?

I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great
photos or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and
clips, this blog could undeniably be one of the most beneficial in its niche.

Good blog!

This is an excellent blog. I have seen so many scams over the years. I immediately google all of these so call guru’s. This is one of the most extensive sites that I have visited.

I would tell anybody trying to get funding for a business, to get registered with Dun & Bradstreet to get your business score and start off with a small line of credit for $25,000 and with your personal credit score as long as it’s good, you can graduate to higher lines. This is a solid plan without throwing away your hard earned money.

Best Wishes to All.
